Our Mission
The mission of the Moneta Farmers Market is to support and promote local agriculture in our area. As a producer-only market, vendors may sell only what they grow, raise, or create themselves. The market operates from the first Wednesday in May through the last Wednesday in August.
About Moneta Farmers Market
The Moneta Farmers Market was founded in 2022 after members of the community approached me with a desire to bring local food and artisans to the area. Bedford County is rich in agricultural history and talented citizens, making it a natural fit for a vibrant community market. Located adjacent to the Moneta/SML Library, the market serves as an extension of this community gathering space.
About
Dorothy McIntyre
After successfully managing the Forest Farmers Market for 12 years and relocating to the beautiful Moneta area of Bedford County, I was approached by community members to establish a market in the area. Using the Forest market as a model, I began reaching out to the agricultural and artisan community to create an enjoyable market experience for local residents. My passion is bringing local agriculture directly to my neighbors and fostering connections between producers and the community.
When not coordinating weekly markets, I enjoy spending time with my husband of 40 years, our three grown children, four grandchildren, and our rescue dog. Since my husband’s retirement, we have purchased a small farm where we have renovated an 1896 home, raise chickens and hogs, and cultivate fruit trees, muscadines, and a modest greenhouse.
In my spare time—if there is any—I love to cook, bake, hike, and explore the many scenic and historic sites Virginia has to offer.
